Immerse yourself further in the ancestral traditions of Oaxaca with our Day of the Dead Holiday. This cultural festival is unique to the city and is colorful, passionate, and full of life.
This holiday is celebrated primarily from October 30th and 31st to November 1st and 2nd, when Oaxacans honor their deceased, and is based on the belief that the dead return to the world of the living to spend time with their living loved ones. Traditions include the construction of altars with offerings and the performance of rituals to accompany the deceased on their journey to Mictlán.
On this day, Oaxaca overflows with happiness, and the city becomes even more alive and flourishing, with the streets festively decorated. And visiting the marigold field is living the authenticity and immersing yourself in this traditional celebration of Oaxacan people.

- Enjoy the view and take all the pictures you want.

- Learn about the importance of all the food that must be placed on the altar.
- Learn about the history and the origin of the Day of the Dead.

The cemetery visit is a traditional event that is part of the Day of the Dead. A significant celebration of Oaxaca’s culture. This celebration portrays how death can be as joyful as life. During the visit to the cemetery, you will experience the beauty of the Oaxaca Xoxo cemetery, where families gather together to spend time with their deceased loved ones.

Cooking Class in Oaxaca City: Traditional and Ancestral Culinary Methods
Immerse yourself further in Oaxaca’s cuisine and experience firsthand the authenticity of cooking wonderful and unique traditional dishes native to the city. Our cooking classes are interactive and traditional. In this class, you’ll not only learn to cook but also immerse yourself in Oaxacan culture. Our cook is a traditional cook with original and authentic recipes. She will guide you by the hand, teaching you traditional culinary methods and secrets and taking you to the next level with our authentic Oaxacan cuisine. In this class, you will also learn how to cook the traditional and the ancestral way, learning how to use the artisanal equipment our ancestors used back in the day. The class will be held in an Oaxacan family house, where you will also learn about the lifestyle of Oaxacans.

This cooking class includes the following activities:
- Pick up and drop off from the meeting point.
- Go shopping at the supermarket with your cook to get the ingredients.

- Learn about the artisanal grinder stones used to grind the traditional ingredients.
- Cook your own traditional Oaxacan food.
